Spring/Summer Menu 2024
19th April 2024
We are excited to announce that our new Spring/Summer menu will be launching on Tuesday 07 May 2024.
What’s new on lunches?
This menu we are really focusing on seasonal food. The new lunch menu will feature six brand new main course recipes including our Pineapple & Coconut Curry, Jamaican Mango Chicken, and Sweet & Sour Chicken Noodles helping to bring that summery feeling!
We are also featuring a new fish dish on this menu, Salmon Marscapone served with Pasta. The dish uses fresh salmon, hand flaked here in the Zebedees kitchen. We know that it is really important that we provide the children with variety so that they learn to enjoy a range of flavours and textures, so our chefs have been working hard to create a new fish dish that the children will love. We are aware from client feedback that our tuna & mackerel recipes from the last few menus have been very popular with the children and we are confident that the new dish will be enoyed just as much, particularly as they are already familiar with our marscapone sauce which featured in another dish from our previous menu. We look forward to hearing from nurseries how all of our new dishes are receved by the children!
We also have a real treat on second courses with our Nutrition Consultant, Charlotte Stirling-Reed’s Easy Peachy Sponge recipe from her most recent book, How to Feed Your Family, which we have adapted Zebedees Style. It really is delicious and we cannot wait for the children to try this.
Replacing our Team Creations menu on Week C will be our new Five a Day Fridays! We have developed this special menu to celebrate fruit and vegetables inline with the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week in June which highlights the importance of eating at least five fruit and vegetables every day. We know how hard it can feel to meet this target, so we are here to help, with each of the dishes on this menu incorporating at least five fruit and veg. For more information about Healthy Eating Week visit Healthy Eating Week 2024 - Monday 10 June to Friday 14 June (nutrition.org.uk)
What’s new on teas?
We continue to strive to go above and beyond when it comes to nutrition across all of our menus. On our afternoon tea menu we are working on reducing processed proteins such as ham and introducing a wider range of natural proteins such as chicken, tuna, turkey, egg, and beans and pulses such as lentils, chickpeas, beans and peas. Also featuring on this menu is our new White Bean Dip, which will be served with healthy corn cakes, providing an opportunity for some dipping fun alongside topping up on protein!
What’s new on optional extras?
Over the last year we have been working on growing our range of optional extras and are now able to offer nurseries everything they need to provide nutritionally balanced meals and snacks across the day:
Breakfast – We deliver our Breakfast Boxes alongside your hot lunches either daily or weekly (to suit your nursery’s needs). Our Breakfast Boxes contain a range of basic provisions to provide a healthy breakfast for up to 10 children for 5 days (or 15 children for 3 days). Suggested menus are based on the Eat Well Start Well recommendations.
Snacks – Our Kids Club Tea includes a healthy fourth snack item. Pair this with one of our fruit boxes to provide balanced morning and afternoon snacks.
Lunch – Two course hot lunch comprising a main course, side dish and second course. Dishes are freshly cooked on the day and delivered hot and ready to serve at lunchtime. Nutritionally balanced, menus exceed the Government Guidance for Menus for Early Years Settings for 1 to 4 year olds.
Tea – A hot or cold afternoon tea.
Hot teas arrive chilled to be heated at the nursery later in the day. Comprising of a delicious hot main course and a cold second course.
Our afternoon teas consist of three items suited to young children. Served cold, items may include filled sandwiches or rolls, homemade pizza, dips, pasta or rice salads, fruit and yoghurts.
