The Children’s Food Trust sets out standards that our menus must adhere to. These are:
- Food Based Standards
- Nutrient Based Standards
Our menus are designed to ensure that pupils get the right balance of food and nutrients to develop and grow. Working with our Paediatric Dietitian and using our own nutritional analysis software programme, we can ensure that our menus conform to the level of nutrients recommended. The Standards advocate minimum levels for iron, zinc, carbohydrate, protein, fibre, vitamin A, vitamin C, folate and calcium and maximum levels for sodium, NME sugars, saturated fat and fat. Together with energy these make up the 14 nutrient based standards.
The bar graph below shows a typical nutritional analysis across a two week menu cycle.
